The Shield: Spotlight is a 2004 The Shield comic series from IDW Publishing written by Award-winning author Jeff Mariotte and illustrated by Jean Diaz. It consisted of five separate issues, but was later re-released into a paperback collection on August 24, 2004 that was 144 pages long. Cover art was done by Tommy Lee Edwards.
Plot[]
When a famous TV journalist is murdered, the media spotlight falls on the Barn. Captain Aceveda orders everyone to be on their best behavior - which hampers the style of Vic Mackey and his Strike Team. As with the popular TV show, interweaving cases affect everyone on the force, with suspenseful and surprising results.

- There are two patrol cops that appear to be the likeness of Officers Ray Carlson and Paul Jackson but their names are never specified.

- Much of the material plays out just like a typical episode of the show with only one F-bomb (much like the videogame) being the only real exception to the otherwise common material often seen.
- The timeline is ambiguous but likely happened sometime in the middle or during Season 1 or Season 2 given how it came out during the same year as Season 3 but doesn't reference that season at all and it being before Aceveda got into politics.
