Stu Kleinsausser was an obese man that worked at a restaurant. Stu was obsessed with his weight having spent summers at camps for people with weight problems and tried dozens of diets, weight training, yoga, and other things.
Before Season 2[]
When Stu was twelve years old, he played "spin-the-bottle" with his friends. When it was Susan Lane's turn, she had to kiss Stu but she rejected him. This angered Stu because he felt humiliated. A few days later, Stu followed Susan from school and attacked her breaking her nose. He received charges for aggravated assault. According to Stu, she tried to kiss him but he didn't want to. He hit her after she slapped him.
Season 2[]
One of Stu's co-worker arranged a blind date for him with Leah Madson. Stu agreed thinking she would be as good-looking as her co-worker. Stu went to Leah's house at around 9:00pm to pick her up, but wasn't that attracted to her after seeing she was obese too. Still, he took her to Fairview Park to try to have sex with her. While there, Stu tried to unhook her bra, but was unable to and ended up breaking the clasp. When she got out a chocolate bar, he got so angry that he strangled her with her bra and left her body at the park.
The next day, Stu was brought to the Barn for questioning. When Detectives Claudette Wyms and Dutch Wagenbach asked him about Leah, he did say they had a blind date, but he left after not being attracted to her. After checking his background and what happened with Susan Lane, Dutch and Claudette confronted him with this new evidence. However, he still denied any involvement in Leah Madson's murder. After not being able to find anything incriminating in his apartment, Claudette and Dutch asked him if he be willing to take a lie detector test but he refused to saying he had heard they were unreliable.
While Dutch sat in the break room glooming staring at his lunch Vic Mackey walked in and Dutch asked him “what do if you know someone’s guilty but don’t have the evidence to prove it.” Vic jokingly responds “Are you wearing a wire.?” Vic realizes the state Dutch is in and says “sometimes the evidence doesn’t fit, sometimes you have to make the evidence fit.” Dutch then arrives at Stu’s apartment and takes a random bra clasp and puts it into one of coat pockets in the closet, goes back to his car and as he’s about to pull off realizes the heinous crime he just committed. After telling removing the planted “evidence” he heads to the fridge and charismatically removes the candy bar Stu had duct-taped to his barren refrigerator.
Later that night, Dutch came in and dragged Stu into another interrogation room. After sitting Stu, he started harassing him about his weight and started claiming that he couldn't unhook Leah's bra because his fingers were too fat and how he killed her because he was horny, while she was more interested in the chocolate bar. Dutch then took out a chocolate bar that Stu had in his fridge for years to help him with self-control. He then told Stu that the chocolate bar was the trigger that got him so angry that he ended up killing her. Dutch’s phone proceeds to ring and its Claudette watching from the viewing room telling Dutch to tell Stu “we found the bra clasp” , Stu got angry and started attacking Dutch while telling him that “I’ll kill you too. Captain David Aceveda and Claudette storm in and asked for help to get Stu off Dutch.
