Synopsis[]

As Dutch and Claudette continue to pursue a rapist who is targeting elderly women, the arrest of a local gang member threatens to expose the Strike Team's involvement in the money train heist.

Plot[]

Corrine Mackey approaches the Strike Team (minus Shane Vendrell) outside the hospital and informs them that Tavon Garris is in intensive care after his car accident. Vic Mackey calls a bloody Shane and informs him of the situation, but Shane makes up an excuse to not come. He and Mara Sewell begin to clean up their apartment, trashed after Shane and Tavon's fight. Danny Sofer and Julien Lowe respond to a woman, Elena, calling about her ex-boyfriend, Lyle Dockman, occupying her house. As they search the house, someone breaks out through a window and escapes. Called by Claudette Wyms, Vic arrives at the Barn but is furious when she asks him to clean up a crime-riddled street. He complies, but enters the Clubhouse and smashes an overheard light.

Vic and Curtis Lemansky head to Shane's to bring him on their detail and notice his injuries. Mara Sewell claims he sustained them defending her from a drunken man. Shane denies that Tavon came around when asked, and Vic orders him to stay home from work the next day. The Strike Team heads to the street and begins clearing people out. Vic leans on a man for cruising by threatening to take his car, and he names "Aramis" to ward them off. Danny and Julien head to Dockman's address, where he denies being at Elena's. Vic goes to David Aceveda behind Claudette's back and explains that Aramis, a Byzantine Latino, sneaks contraband into prison for his friends. Aceveda tells him to follow it, getting the Strike Team pulled off their current job. Claudette and Dutch Wagenbach are called by Patty Klopp, whose elderly mother Lou-Ann's house was broken into her. The detectives interview her but find her resistant, so Dutch searches her dumpster and finds her bedsheets, wondering if she is another victim of the "Cuddler" rapist.

The Strike Team tracks down Aramis and spy on him as loads boxes of cigarettes into his car. Danny and Julien convince Aceveda to put protection on Elena, which he says he will pull after a week if Dockman does nothing. As Dutch begins reviewing recent break-ins regarding elderly women, he notes to Claudette a study that will help them get the perpetrator's general location if they have three confirmed cases.

The Strike Team brings Aramis to the barn, along with Fred, the man who delivers his goods inside the prison, having caught them handing off heroin. Claudette asks if he moved off the street, and Vic confirms he broke chain of command. Vic offers Aramis prison time with his friends if he gives up information, then asks Fred for the name of who receives the goods inside prison. Both men are resistant. Aceveda gives the money taken in the arrest to his assistant Nina, asking her to check the serial numbers against the list given to him by Quigley. Nina asks to be brought into his campaign management, but he insists she is doing good work where she is. Dutch notices an elderly woman leaving an office and finds Claudette, having gotten her to admit that she was raped five months prior. They return to Lou-Ann, who denies any assault. Danny informs Vic that witnesses attested that Tavon was drifting a couple blocks before his accident, as well as giving him the direction Tavon was driving in. Suspecting that Tavon was driving away from Shane's, Vic confronts him and he admits the truth, though he claims that he was the one who that gave Tavon his head injury instead of Mara Sewell, who denies being present when Vic asks.

Nina informs Aceveda that two of the bills matched the serial numbers. Vic notices him taking Aramis for interrogation with U.S. Treasury agent Crosby Nell. Vic and Lem theorize that federal presence means they suspect the Strike Team of collaboration with Diagur Leyva, so they watch the interrogation on the security camera, and are horrified to hear Nell explain that the marked bills were stolen from the Money Train. Vic realizes that the money he got back from Diagur was $20,000 light. As Nell threatens to tie the men killed at the robbery to Aramis, Aceveda remembers the security camera and goes to switch it off, forcing Vic and Lem to flee.

Vic, Lem and Ronnie Gardocki go to Byz Lats Ricky and Juan Lozano demanding to see Diagur. Vic tortures Juan with his bong, prompting Ricky to give them Diagur's location at his girlfriend Yolanda's place. Vic tracks him down and orders him to send a lawyer to Aramis. He informs Diagur of the Armenian money and learns that the other half of the money is stashed in Aramis's freezer, ordering Diagur to go underground for the time being. Dockman sends Elena mail, so Danny has his boss monitor his calls and internet activity at work. Vic returns to the Barn to find Aramis in the cage, realizing he cooperated. Aceveda retrieves the money from Aramis's house and hands it to Nell. Aceveda stays behind to search the house.

Corrine Mackey brings Dutch and Claudette to Diana Peabo, another potential victim of the rapist, who was robbed a month prior. Ricky arrives to search Aramis's fridge and is stopped by Aceveda, only for him to be jumped by Juan. He grabs Aceveda's gun and Ricky ties Aceveda up. Juan demands Aceveda fellate him until officer Toby Rosner knocks on the door, having been called by Aceveda to pick him up. Juan restrains him until they leave. At the Barn, Vic asks Nina to call Aceveda, who does not respond. Juan has Ricky photograph him orally raping Aceveda.

As Claudette questions Diana, Dutch tells her son Vincent that they believe she was raped. Vincent gives them the details of the break-in, but insists Diana would have told him if she was raped. He gets her to admit that she was and the two reconcile. Ricky prepares to kill Aceveda to keep him quiet, but Aceveda talks him out of it as the Strike Team arrives. The pair flee with Aceveda's gun, and he claims to Vic that he fought them off. Danny and Julien catch Dockman outside Elena's house and arrest him.

Dutch and Claudette go to Lou-Ann's house, having shot at Patty when she tried to open the door. They find her in the bedroom and get her to put her gun down, though she continues to deny the rape. Vic drops Cassidy Mackey off from her new counselor and refuses to attend sessions. Corrine informs him that Tavon is slowly stabilizing, and Vic asks if there will be memory loss, which Corrine is unsure of. Vic reveals this and the marked bills to Shane, and he insists they need to "make this disappear."

Dutch and Claudette go to Aceveda with their evidence against the rapist, asking them to bring in the author of the report. He insists they do not have the funds. Vic helps Shane and Mara clean their apartment properly. As Shane leaves to get rid of evidence, Vic warns Mara that he will make her tell the truth if it comes to that. As Danny informs Aceveda that she caught Dockman and he signs something for Nina, he retreats to the bathroom and retches over the toilet.

Episode Title[]

The title is a slang term for failing to speak or communicate when expected, which is a recurring motif in the episode with several people not reporting crimes committed against them, namely David Aceveda not informing that he was raped by Juan Lozano.

The word "mum" is also a British English term for "mother", which is another recurring theme throughout the episode; from the victims of the Cuddler Rapist to Aceveda reasoning with Ricky by bringing up his mother. There is even a deleted scene where Dutch Wagenbach is on the phone with his own mother.
