Laura Harring (born March 3, 1964; age 61) played Rebecca Doyle during Season 5 of The Shield.
Biography and career[]
Laura Harring was born in Sinaloa, Mexico. Her mother was a spiritual teacher, real estate investor, and former secretary, and her father was a developer and organic farmer of Austrian-German descent. Harring's parents divorced in 1971. She lived the first ten years of her life in Mexico, but eventually, her family relocated to San Antonio, Texas. When she was 16 years old, Harring went to study at Aiglon College in Switzerland. Upon her return, she settled in El Paso, Texas and began participating in beauty pageants. In 1985, Harring won the title of Miss USA 1985, traveling around the world as a result.
Harring studied theatre at the London Academy of Performing Arts, having trained in the Italian Commedia dell'arte, as well as Latin dances, including the Argentine tango. She began her acting career in the film Silent Night, Deadly Night 3: Better Watch Out! where she played the girlfriend of the brother of one of the protagonists. Harring's breakthrough came in 2001 when she starred in David Lynch's Mulholland Drive, alongside Naomi Watts. She won an ALMA Award for this role.
Through her career, Harring has also worked in other feature films like John Q, Inland Empire, The Punisher, and One Missed Call. She has also worked on TV shows like Baywatch, Silk Stalkings, Frasier, and NCIS: Los Angeles.
In 1987, Harring married Count Carl-Eduard von Bismarck-Schönhausen, great-great-grandson of Otto von Bismarck. Though the couple divorced in 1989, she retains the title of Countess von Bismarck-Schönhausen.
