Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) was a branch of the United States Department of Justice which dealt with legal and illegal immigration and naturalization. It ceased to exist on 2003 and most of its functions were transferred to the Department of Homeland Security.

Season 1[]

After finding teenager Sun-Lee working as a prostitute at Mrs. Park's sex club, Vic Mackey contacted INS to take her back to Korea. Sun-Lee complained saying she didn't wanna go back, but Mackey convinced her.

Season 2[]

When Detectives Dutch Wagenbach and Claudette Wyms started investigating Armadillo Quintero's involvement to two gang murders, Claudette came up with some information that Armadillo had been accused of rape when he was a teenager in Mexico. Since he was now living in California, Dutch contacted INS to verify if the rape accusation represented a violation to his visa requirements.

Season 4[]

After Strike Team and police detectives of The Barn find the murdered Carl and Scooby from one of the closed down seized houses. Vic mentions Spider to Monica Rawling, about him telling about some Salvadorians who started working under Antwon Mitchell and doing his dirty work.

Monica making the INS referral

The INS hasn't sent him back to El Salvador yet ?

Vic saying

They're not the most efficient bunch.

Before Season 6[]

Kevin Hiatt worked with the INS as a border agent in Mexico for four years. According to Claudette Wyms, he was regarded as a "rising star" in the agency. When Homeland Security took over, he joined the Los Angeles Police Department.
