Forest Steven Whitaker (born July 15, 1961; age 63) played Lieutenant Jon Kavanaugh on The Shield between Season 5 and Season 6.

Biography[]

Whitaker was born in Longview, Texas, but his family moved to Los Angeles when he was a young kid. During high school, Whitaker played football and performed in musicals. He attended Cal Poly Pomona with a football scholarship but left due to an injury. He was then accepted at the Music Conservatory and Drama Conservatory of the University of Southern California graduating in 1982.

Whitaker has performed in countless renowned films like Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Good Morning, Vietnam, Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, Panic Room, and Phone Booth. In 2007, he won an Academy Award for his performance as Ugandan dictator Idi Amin, in the film The Last King of Scotland. In 2013, he appeared in the indie crime drama film Pawn (with Michael Chiklis).

Whitaker married Keisha Nash in May 4, 1996. They have two daughters together, while Whitaker has a son from a previous relationship. Whitaker's height is 6' 2" (1.88 m).
