David Joseph Hallinan (March 19, 1963 – May 11, 2016; age 53) was an assistant director on The Shield.

Biography and career

David Hallinan grew up in New York. He graduated from Oberlin College in 1984. Hallinan was married and had two children.

Hallinan started working in entertainment during the 1980s. He was a DGA trainee on films like Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan and Family Business. Soon after, he started working as a second second assistant director on multiple feature films and TV shows during the 90s like Friends and The X-Files. Eventually, he became a first assistant director.

Through his career, Hallinan worked in other TV shows like The District, Sons of Anarchy, Stalker, and The Catch. He also worked on films like San Andreas, Veronica Mars, Waterworld, 8MM, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.

Hallinan died at the Sequoia National Park on May 11, 2016 apparently from an accidental fall.
