Athens was the capital of Greece, and the city where Margos Dezerian was hiding.
Before Season 3[]
Upon his arrival in Greece, Margos Dezerian apparently established himself in Athens under the alias of "Marcus Dreliozis". While there, he kept in contact with Lyor Slavok, whom he put in charge of finding and murdering whoever was responsible for the theft of the Armenian Money Train.
Season 3[]
When the police at the Barn arrested Lyor Slavok, they traced a package he had sent to Athens and rerouted it to the station. When it arrived, they found that Lyor had sent the severed feet of some suspects of the Money Train theft. Knowing that Margos would be at the pick-up place for the package, Detective Dutch Wagenbach called the American Embassy in Athens to see if they could intercept Margos. However, he was unsuccessful.
